We need YOU!

Karyn Barnes-Pownall —

You will have seen Nichola Flaherty’s (Returning Officer) emails regarding the upcoming trustee election. This correspondence is to encourage you to think about standing - and provide you with ways to find out more if your curiosity has been piqued!

The government entrusts the governance and monitoring of the School’s performance to representatives elected by parents. The Board therefore plays a crucial role in the success of the school. At a personal level, and speaking for myself, it has been an opportunity and a privilege to make a contribution to the School community. I have also learned a great deal about the way education is delivered in New Zealand which, as a parent, is invaluable insight.

We are fortunate in this community to have a rich pool of talented and engaged parents who have always been well served by the Board. We have historically arranged the Board into portfolios that align with the National Administration Guidelines that we monitor the School’s performance against (including finance and property). But fundamentally the Board should reflect the makeup of the community it represents. So if you are interested, please do give serious consideration to standing.
