Friends of Stanley Bay - Twilight bowls night

Karyn Barnes-Pownall —

On Friday 5 April, FOSB ran the inaugural Twilight bowls night at the Stanley Bay Bowls & Pétanque club.

The evening was attended by over 90 Stanley Bay parents who were divided into teams and enjoyed the last weekend of the daylight savings sunshine to learn and play both bowls and pétanque, in what can only be described as the best bowls venue in Auckland! Much fun was had and the jovial competitive nature certainly came out - it was a fabulous way for parents to interact with each other.  Members of the Stanley Bay Bowls & Pétanque club instructed the group and chose the top two teams to play a bowl-off.

This was followed by an amazing barbecue by Matt Baker and salads provided by Alice Harrison, Sarah Chapman, Sarah Newman, Emma Bartlett, Mary Symes, Sarah Ostergaard and Kelly Seaburg.

A huge thanks to the club for hosting a fabulous event and to David (Harry) Harrison and Victoria Stephens for organising it. For all those parents who wanted to know more about signing up to the club or enjoying the facilities of the only place in Stanley Bay with a liquor licence, please note the below:

- Every Friday evening bar opens at 6PM

- 1st Friday of the month Nibbles and Natter bring a plate of finger food and catch-up with neighbours and friends

- 2nd Friday  - Friendly Friday just drinks

- 3rd Friday - Quiz night

- 4th Friday  - Friendly Friday again

The event raised $3300 which will be used to fund the school playground upgrades.
