What a great day for a chess tournament! With 7 rounds of games played by 63 students over 4 hours, all players did extremely well and played with fairness and respect.

After a hard fought battle and some very exciting games, Devonport Primary School came away with the overall win over Stanley Bay by a mere 1 point. They will now progress to the Region finals. Stanley Bay students came out on top of both the boys and girls divisions. Maisie W of Room 4 was the overall girl player of the day and Ed B.H of Room 9 was the top boy player, winning all of his games. Ed has now been invited to attend the North Island tournament in Rotorua. A huge thank you to Cath McNellan and Andrew Davis from Stanley Bay for their organisation and supervision on the day. Well done to all of our players and for representing our school so well.
