Kia ora e te whānau,

Emma Tolmie —

I am looking forward to seeing all the tamariki having a fabulous time at the discos on Thursday evening. Please remember that all children must be picked up from the hall by an adult. No child will be allowed to leave without an adult.

The quiz night is almost sold out. If you haven’t bought your tickets or booked your tables, get in quick. It is going to be a great night. We have staff tables booked ready to battle it out too.

Our relationship with Takapuna Grammar High School

We have established a close partnership with Takapuna Grammar High School, enhancing the educational experience for our students. This term, we've welcomed Year 9 and 10 students from Takapuna Grammar to our school for a series of engaging sessions. Over the course of five weeks, these high school students have dedicated one hour per week to support the learning in our classes. It has been great to see many previous students returning to support our students.

During these sessions, our students have received invaluable assistance, ranging from guidance on navigating the new Chromebooks to personalized support in areas such as reading, writing, physical education and mathematics. This collaboration has not only enriched the learning environment but has also fostered a sense of community and mentorship among students across different age groups.

We're thrilled to witness the positive impact of this partnership on our students' academic growth.

Our school values: integrity, resilience and respect.

At Stanley Bay School we are committed to fostering an environment where integrity, resilience, and respect are not just words but guiding principles that shape every aspect of our community. What do these values mean for our students and how we communicate them at school? Some of these may interest you to support talking about them at home too.

1. Integrity:

Integrity forms the cornerstone of our school community. It is about being honest, trustworthy, and doing the right thing even when no one is watching. We encourage akonga to uphold integrity by emphasizing the importance of honesty, fairness, and responsibility in their actions. We help them understand that integrity is not just about following rules but about living with integrity in all aspects of their lives.

2. Resilience:

Resilience is the ability to bounce back from setbacks and adversity. It's about facing challenges with courage, perseverance, and a positive mindset. We teach tamariki the value of resilience by helping them understand that failure is not the end but an opportunity for growth and learning. We encourage them to develop resilience by coping with sport or games when it doesn’t go their way, staying optimistic, and seeking support when needed.

3. Respect:

Respect is at the heart of our school community, encompassing kindness, empathy, and acceptance of others. We focus on the importance of respecting themselves, their peers, teachers, and the environment. We also encourage them to celebrate differences, and treat others with kindness and compassion. Thank you for modeling respectful behavior at home, you set a powerful example for your children to follow.

As partners in your child's education, we are committed to nurturing these values both in the classroom and at home. Together, we can empower our students to show integrity, resilience and be respectful individuals who make a positive difference in the world.
