End of Term Learner Conferences

Rachael Hamilton —

On Monday 29 June the Mid-year written report will come home with your child. The mid-year report this year will look a little different from written reports you may have had from Stanley Bay before. Due to the Covid 19 enforced lockdown, the teachers have been unable to collate the depth and breadth of assessment data they would normally use to write the report. For this reason, the 2020 Mid-year report will be composed of a student reflection on learning and a teacher reflection on how your child displays the Stanley Bay values.

On Wednesday 1 July from 3.20pm until 6pm and Thursday 2 July from 2pm until 4.30pm teachers will be hosting Learner Conference meetings. Again these meetings will be a little different from the learner conferences we have run recently at Stanley Bay. They will be an opportunity from you, your child and the teacher to reflect on comments in the report and discuss the learning that is still to come during the rest of 2020.

Teachers in the Middle and Senior school will have data from the Progressive Achievement Tests (PATs) to share with you and the results of Mathematics Global Strategy Stage (GloSS) assessment to share with you. Teachers from the Junior school will have a selection of student work from both maths and literacy available to form the basis of the discussion.

As Thursday’s meetings will be starting at 2pm, school will be closed at 1.30pm. Kelly Club will be open to provide childcare should you need it. They will have an event on their website called ‘conference day’ that you can sign up to.
