Girls impress on the rugby field!

Karyn Barnes-Pownall —

2019 was a great year for girls’ rugby at Stanley Bay, with 10 girls playing a full season for the North Shore club in the girls-only Rippa competitions.

Chloe C, Amelia B, Imogen C and Isla McL played in the extremely successful Under 11 White team.  They won 14 of their 15 games, and were awarded 'Girls Rippa Team of the Year' at the North Shore club prize giving.  Chloe C won the trophy for Most Improved.

In the under 9 grade, Poppy P, Ella T, Hazel W, Ema W, and Lily McL played for Under 9 Green, and Aria H played for U9 White.  Both teams had an awesome season with some great results. Most of these girls were new to the game, but everyone learned new skills, had heaps of fun and lots of tries were scored. Ella was awarded Most Improved, and Hazel won Most Promising (scoring nearly 50 tries over the season!).

The girls have a few weeks break now before the touch season starts in term 4.
