Maori Language Week was celebrated at SBS last week. The whole school participated in a selection of activities based around Maori culture.

Te Reo art and language sessions where alive across the classrooms last week where the children moved around activities.  Some of the options available were making tipare (headbands), playing Maori games, creating Koru art using collage, reading stories, waiata, having their own moko and learning a Maori version of 'What time is it Mr Wolf'.

Tamariki Day

In keeping with Maori Language week our second 'Tamariki Day' was held on Friday.  SBS hosted a number of local Early Childhood Centres for a mini Kapa Haka festival.  Superbly led by Maria Adam, Stanley Bay performed a number of waiata including a poi item and the haka.  Please take a look at the photos of their fabulous effort.
