Gearing up for Matariki celebrations on the Peninsula

Matariki 2023 is funded by Auckland Council through Devonport Takapuna Local Board, and the partners who have set the programme up.

24th June-Bayswater Primary, Matariki festival, 3-8pm

25th June- Lakehouse Arts Centre Matariki, 4-6pm

July 1st -Depot Artspace Opening, 2-4pm

There are two lantern-making opportunities:

July 1st – 12 pm to 5:00 pm at Devonport Community House

July 8th – 1 pm to 5:00 pm at The Navy Museum.

July 1st – Hikoi at 5:00 pm, from Te Whare Toi, at the base of Takarunga, to the summit. ,

July 8th – Hikoi at 5:00 pm, from The Navy Museum, to the summit of Maunguika.

July 14th -Lakehouse Arts Centre Night Market, 4-8.30pm

July 15th – Windsor Reserve gathering – from 5 pm. Students could present a waiata, a story, a poem, or a dance item based on Matariki, either individually, or as a group.
