Term 3 Open Day - Sharing of Learning

John Waller —

On the back of the success of the term 2 science open day the students and teachers have been working hard to share their learning about the arts on Tuesday 24th of September. To allow parents to visit each learning area and for the students to see what each team have been up to we have decided to stagger the day.

Rōpū Māhuri - 9 to 11

Rōpū Māhuri will be presenting a film festival. They have spent the term learning about performing arts and this will be a culmination of what they have learnt in drama, music and film making, using the arts to tell a story. The children have selected their own groups to work with and created a short story that they have filmed. These films will be shown in the hall in a cinema type environment. There will be popcorn, tea, coffee and home-baked goodies for sale - gold coin donation. All proceeds will be going to charity. Along with the films, there will be a live show including a play and live music.

Rōpū Kākano - 11.30 to 12.15

Room 11 and 14 will have a selection of activities from their learning through the term around music, art, dance and drama which the parents can come and participate in with their child and Room 1, 2 and 13 will have visual art activities from their learning through the term which parents can come and participate in with their child.

Rōpō Pihinga - 12.15 to 1

Ropu Pihinga have been using the arts to inquire into Sustainability. They have learnt what it means to be sustainable, what problems there are in the world and what other people are doing to help solve them. Through the inquiry process they then looked at what they could do, in their own community, to be sustainable. On the open day you can look forward to watching the students share their messages about sustainability through the arts.

We look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible to share in the learning that has taken place this term.
