Athletics Day

Rachael Hamilton —

We were lucky with the weather last week and managed to get both our junior and our senior athletics days completed. An amazing effort from all the children who took part and congratulations to the children who qualified for interschool.

I went down to the tennis court. We had a race. I had butterflies in my tummy. I came first. I had the best day. By Anna G Rm 2

Wow! What a fantastic day. I ran so fast and I was cheering for my brother. I came third. I loved it. By Bella S Rm 2

Yay! I came third place. Next year I will try to win. When I jumped I felt like I was flying like a butterfly. By Mathilda S Rm 2

Now the sun is really getting to me. I can see the long stretch of a blue, hard desk. I feel boiling. Woosh! I am knocked off onto the wet, dewey grass. I see a sweaty hand pick me up and pump me in the air. I feel happy, grateful and delighted that I am popular. My wooden, square body is now showing itself to the whole stretch of smiling faces. Although I am small and not loved most of the year, now I am happy and that’s what matters. By Emily C.S Rm 6

I am lying in a basket with other round balls. Suddenly I see a hand pick me up. I hear somebody shout “Throwing!” and I glide through the air until I hit the hard wet grass. Oof! I am starting to get very dizzy until the same hand picks me up. I get dropped unto the basket. Ouch! Now my head hurts, I feel like I need to go to the doctor but then my headache goes away. I am not dizzy anymore, I feel calm and peaceful.     By Derin S Rm 6

Ouch! Stop throwing me! Wwwait, what’s that soft thing picking me up? “Ahhh, Put me down! No, don't throw mee!” Hi my name is Danny and my life is kinda crazy. Half the time I get thrown around! Like now, Ow! I also normally hit the ground. If you could see me alive, well….. Then you would see all of my scars. They hurt, alot, trust me. By Lily O Rm 6

Whoosh! Bang! I look fluorescent yellow. I feel hurt and sad. I can see the green grass and people doing long-jump. Who am I? By Alex H Rm 6
