On the 3rd of July the Stanley Bay kapa haka group performed at the Bayswater Matariki Festival.

The Year 3 to 6 children that participated worked incredibly hard to prepare for the performance in the weeks leading up to the festival. We are very proud of how they represented our school.

The group performed three songs, Ngā iwi e, Utaina, Tēnā rā koutou and the boys also performed a haka. Tēnā rā koutou is a special song written for Stanley Bay by the middle and senior kapa haka tutor Matua Gary. Milena Martens and Gus McRory did so well leading the group.

An extra special thanks to Mr Offner for supporting the group and playing the guitar. We are looking forward to more kapa haka later in the year.
