How are the Stanley Bay teachers keeping busy during Lock down?

Rachael Hamilton —

It's been a few weeks since lock down and along with providing our Stanley Bay students with excellent online learning, our teachers have been practicing safe distancing, staying in their bubbles and enjoying the time they have at home with their families.

Here are some examples of how everyone has been spending their time. Have a look at the photos below and match the pictures to the teachers:

Miss Taylor Rm13- I am in lockdown with my favourite bar of chocolate, (which will be eaten within minutes) a good book, my knitting and a colouring book.

Mrs Cahill Rm11- The best bit about being in our bubble is walking our dog Keela at sunrise. Reading, gardening, cooking, being together & seeing all your seesaw posts are much fun too! Big hug room 11 crew from Mrs Cahill.

Mrs Mackrill Rm11- I am enjoying spending time in my bubble with Marley, Joanie and Bowie, my husband Alex and our dog Colin as we are normally all so busy working and doing other activities. Alex is working from home so the kids and I have been doing lots to keep ourselves busy! Drawing, painting, Lego, baking, crafts, movies... My favourite time of the day though has to be our walk around the golf course. It is so peaceful and lots of space to walk around and we see hardly anyone!

Mrs Stedman Rm2- has been using her time to catch up on reading and learning how to make the perfect cup of coffee with her son Alex.

Mrs Pelham Rm9- I am in isolation with husband Murray and my son Jake. I spent last week setting work for my class and each day we have gone out for exercise like a walk or bike riding. I have also read some books, completed a jigsaw and caught up with friends- on zoom and house party!!

Ms Blackwell Rm6 - I'm in isolation with Hugo who is a brown labradoodle and Heidi who is a golden labradoodle. Funnily Hugo is actually Heidi’s uncle even though they’re only a few months apart. They like to follow us around the house since we’re all working from home and steal socks etc… It is almost Hugo’s first birthday which we will celebrate at home. They’re very funny and like to wrestle as if they’re WWE fighters.

Ms Brookes Rm7- Went for a walk around Devonport, rang friends, I was supposed to be painting the ceiling in one of my bedrooms but made ginger crunch instead. Then sat on the couch with Ziggy my cat and ate far too much.

Ms McVerry Rm1- This is my bubble buddy, Bruce. We have been enjoying gardening together most days; Bruce is the chief hole digger and plant hydrator. Bruce’s favourite thing are tennis balls. He chews them until they lose all of their fluff and then discards them on the lawn. Our other daily activities have included walking the beach, chasing tennis balls, making whipped ‘dalgona’ coffee and baking any recipe that includes feijoas.

Mrs Abrahams - myself and my boys (Connor and Jordan) in our little bubble, the best part is getting to play with them everyday and going for walks and finding stones to paint!

Delwyn - I’m loving spending time with my family at home. (Daughter Grace is in Gisborne.) We’re making bread, playing games & enjoying the sun.

Mrs Naylor - I love my bubble! In my bubble are my husband, youngest son and best buddy Biscuit (my dog). We are enjoying walks, yoga, lots of yummy baking and reading...lots and lots of reading.

Diane -My bubble in lockdown is my husband Rob, Holly our Minature Schnauzer, my daughter Sam and her husband and their 3 boys. Last Sunday Sam and I shaved our hair to raise money for the Cancer Society. We raised $1600.00 between us. My hair is very very short now. The best thing about that is I can wash and dry my hair quickly. The best thing about lockdown for me is I do not get woken at 5.30 am each morning because my husband is working from home.

Mrs Schaffer- We are currently enjoying having all the kids home with us and dinners are great fun with everyone here. During the day the kids are busy scootering in the driveway or playing basketball or spending time with our newest addition to the family, Ruby, our 9 week old puppy.

Mr Waller -In the bubble with my wife and son. The best bit about working from home through lockdown is definitely the lack of school bell - I love mixing my work with helping my son with his learning when it suits us, not when the bell rings and being able to work outside. The worst bit is my gym being shut . Hope to see a few of you seniors signing up to my maths challenges on google classroom!! Look forward to seeing you all soon.

Kate - As a family we are enjoying making the most of all the time we have to exercise, whether going out for a walk, a bike ride or catching up on SoulSprite or Les Mills exercise classes at home.

We'd love to see some pictures of your activities in your bubble.
