What an amazing community we have at Stanley Bay School. The children here are vibrant and engage with both their peers and adults so positively, and display our school vision of being confident learners. The parents are supportive and the teachers go above and beyond as seen in the trips they take their classes on, the extra support or programmes that they organise, and so much more.

The students and teachers have been working hard preparing to share their Term 2 learning with parents on Thursday 22nd June. To allow parents to visit each learning area and for the students to see what each team have been up to we have decided to stagger the day.

What is National Volunteer Week?

Carved and painted. You can see it with all the others at the Bayswater Matariki Festival on June 24th, alongside our kapa haka group, who will be performing alongside all the peninsula schools.

A Learner Conference is a meeting that includes the student, parent/s and the teacher. It is an opportunity for the student to share samples of work, discuss what they have learned and identify progress they have made.

The Thread Room is a sewing studio in Belmont and we teach sewing classes for kids, teens and adults.

There is plenty of research stating the many benefits of singing including increased confidence and an increase in social, cognitive and emotional skills.

We would like to invite students from your school this upcoming holidays to experience our amazing STEAM based programme, where students get a chance to do hands on building, and learn robotics coding via iPads along with science experiments, creative play, arts and craft. On a sunny Wednesday last week Stanley Bay School sent 8 teams to the Peninsula Rippa Rugby Tournament.

We built the track because we like to race our cars. When we did it, it was in room 2 and we kept growing it and growing it so it went to room 1. It broke but I added more parts to it and fixed it. I like construction and am creative and I worked in a team with my friends. We are planning to measure it to see how long it is. I think it is 909 By Hudson M, Rm1

I am looking forward to our upcoming information evening on Thursday night at 7 pm in the school hall. It will be an opportunity to hear about what I have noticed, what has changed, clarify what will remain the same, and share potential future developments. For those who cannot make it, we will endeavour to record the evening and share it with the community by the end of next week.

It was a very sad day for Stanley Bay School last week as Lizzie left us to join Milford School.

Each term the school and board review policies. As part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing our services and policies, we are reaching out to gather valuable feedback on our current EOTC (Education Outside the Classroom) policy.

As we enter the winter season it’s time to get prepared as flu and covid can spread quickly in schools. The health and well-being of our children, staff, and community is our top priority. Please monitor your child for any signs of sickness and err on the side of caution if you feel they are unwell.

The Juniors loved Science in a Van visiting the school. They learned all about mixing liquids to create reactions and saw some impressive bubbles being created. Great use of observation skills

Last week on Monday and Tuesday Room 4 and 6 went to Stanley Bay Beach and to the rock pools at the northern end of Takapuna beach.

Can you spare a couple of hours a day to help empty bins, vacuum the courts and refill soaps, paper towels, etc? We need someone for a couple of weeks, possibly longer.

The Friends of Stanley Bay (fundraising and school community social events) would like to express their sincere appreciation for all the mahi Vanessa, Emma and Kate have contributed over the years.

Riding bikes and scooters to and from school can be a fun and efficient way for students to get to school, but it is important to do so safely. The Principal has been contacted to say that kids riding on footpaths is problematic because they swerve in and out of people and have gotten a fright, and worried someone could get hurt.

It’s always wonderful seeing the imaginations of our tamariki and to witness the incredible power of creativity as it flourishes within the minds and words of our talented students here at Stanley Bay School.

On Wednesday 31 May, we are holding our school cross-country.

We have a fantastic full size/competition trampoline to give away.

Local football club North Shore United is looking for some more girl players in grades 7 and 8 (school years 3 and 4).

Community conversations will occur twice a year and are informal meetings led by community stakeholders that the local board attends to meet different parts of the community.

I hope everyone’s houses and property were fine after yesterday's storm, there were a few places where we saw water ingress in the school and I am working with the Ministry of Education to address these.

Margaux SB, Beth R, Sophie S, Olivia CS, and Natalie B got the opportunity to compete in the North Shore Primary School Swim Championships.

Last Tuesday, Room 6 was lucky to have a television crew come into school and film students for the TV show 7 Days.

Come along to the next Friends of Stanley Bay School meeting to meet Emma Tolmie and learn about upcoming school community events. The meeting will be in school ( TBC) and will feature wine and laughs.

Our student leaders have been rostered to walk around in fluro jackets with a bag full of Good One Tokens and plasters during break times.

Rooms 9 and 10 have been looking into an ANZAC soldier (or any soldier) that they could make a connection with. These are some of the soldiers from our families. We researched them and looked up other information that interested us about the war.

We have a constant need of books to be covered and stamped, and put away. If you or someone you know is able to help, for example, there may be grandparents who could come in. Presently we would especially love some help on Tuesday afternoons.

A huge thank you to all the families who gave up their ANZAC afternoon to help build planter boxes, organise the compost, sort out kitchen equipment, move large rocks, and shovel a lot of dirt! I couldn’t have done it without you all!

Jazz School is excited to announce the formation of two new Jazz Big Bands that will meet after school on Mondays or Thursdays throughout the year providing experience, performance opportunities and the chance to play amazing music with like minded musicians.

Guitar and Ukulele lessons are available at school, for Year 2 upwards, with Dave Gatman from Musiqhub.

They have turned up to at least two sessions a week during the term and a holiday programme, working on developing their skills- and it hasn't been easy!

We are excited to announce that we have managed to organise a Devonport Hockey Competition starting this coming season.
