The NZ Curriculum refresh is phased from now until 2025, It is undoubtedly the most significant change in education since Tomorrow's Schools. An exciting time to be in education!

Last week we kicked off Matariki at Stanley Bay with a week of activities and learning.

Another fantastic night of Stanley Bay Basketball finals action! We had four of our teams in Grand Final action, along with a handful of other teams representing our school in 3rd / 4th playoff matches!

On the 15th and 16th of June Ropu Kanano children embarked on an adventure to the Waitakere Transfer Station to their Zero Waste Zone.

Last week I had the privilege of attending the New Zealand Principals Federations Moot. The highlight was an address from Hon Jan Tinetti (Deputy Secretary for Education). She talked at length about the lack of attendance in NZ schools - post covid, the average national attendance rate is 60%.

27 Stanley Bay students competed in the Pennisula Interschool Cross Country competition.

In preparation for our major fundraiser of the year, the Mud Run, the FOSB are looking for some helping hands.

2022 marks the 20th Anniversary Concert of North Shore Youth Music.

On Friday 20th May, Stanley Bay School will be celebrating Pink Shirt Day and raising money to support the kaupapa. We will also be having a sausage sizzle and selling real fruit ice cream bars to support this important day so buy yours now on Kindo.

This morning we were excited to have Max the Pūkeko at school to make coming to school safer for our students.

Thanks to the easing of restrictions, this term is packed with events.

Stanley Bay School took part in the Peninsula Waterwise Regatta.

The rising of the Matariki or Pleiades star cluster around late May or early June signals the beginning of the Māori New Year. This year New Zealand begins celebrating Matariki with a public holiday which is super exciting!

Girls Basketball is back! We have the privilege of having the crew from 'Girls Got Game' back this year for a multi week programme to promote girls sport!

On 18th September hundreds of kids and adults from all over the peninsula will partake in the awesome annual Mud Run event

For several years Kelly Club has provided before and after school care. However, following a rigorous process, the decision has been made to change providers.

We are collecting 1.25L CLEAR PLASTIC BOTTLES- eg tonic/ginger ale water bottles- for our inquiry art project. Please ask your child to put them in the box outside rooms 2 and 3. Thank you!

We have had an exciting start to the term. Fewer restrictions have enabled us to crack on with learning, ignite the enrichment program, relaunch many lunchtime activities and practice kapa haka for Matariki...the pure joy of being able to sing in assembly again!

Dress up your bike and yourself with an autumn theme, bring a picnic and join one of two bike convoys for a relaxed whānau ride (not a race!) to Woodall Park for an introduction to the new Pump Track and some whānau fun!

Our Stanley Bay Ukulele Group got off to a great start this week. We learnt about the parts of the ukulele and the C and Am chord. We practised strumming in time and played a song together. If your child would like to join our group please remind them to come and see Miss Gauntlett in Room 2.

5 Weekly Sessions, Tuesday mornings

The wonderful weather and Easter Break has been a fantastic opportunity to get away with your family and explore our 'big backyard'. Experiencing new places and trying new things gives our children a chance to take a few risks (some more than others!) and, in the process, build their resilience.

This term, we have some exciting learning planned!

In class, they have been writing about their fantastic Easter holidays.

Photolife are coming to Stanley Bay School to take our class, individual and sibling photos on Tuesday 9 May.

Stanley Bay School is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair this week. This is an opportunity to celebrate books and a love of reading.

It is a group of children who walk together to/from school with parent supervisors along a set route.

Recently AT monitored the before and after school pick up parking issues around our school. They have made suggestions below to try and make Russell St safer for the children.

We are putting together a list of volunteers who can help the school with the occasional working bee.
