Beth Anderson —

Kia ora whānau,

What a lovely week it has been here in Dunedin. The sun is well and truly starting to come out as well as flowers blossoming all over town. Summer cannot be far away!

It was a quiet week for Tolcarne as a lot of students were away representing the school in their chosen sports.

On Wednesday night Robyn did a food activity with the Year 9s in the dining room. This was a part of the Fear Factor unit this term that they have been working on. The students were in partners with one blindfolded and handing the other student the food. Some of the ‘fear’ foods that students tasted were chilli, wasabi and capers. What a super fun and somewhat delicious activity for our Year 9 students to take part in. Ka Pai!

Our weekend activity with Bex this weekend was Boxing. A lot of our students have never tried Boxing so it was really enjoyable for them to try something new.

Can you believe that we only have three weeks of Term Three left? The next few weeks of term are going to fly by in the blink of an eye. Benchmark exams start for our senior students who we know have been busy in the preparation for these exams and have been working hard. Bex is also taking a group of the Year 9s to a Silks class for the weekend activity. At the end of the week, Ange, Robyn and Beth are taking a group of Year 10 and 11 students to Coronet Peak for their annual ski trip. This is always a highlight on the Tolcarne calendar.
