News From Foods
Last week the Year 11's finished off their unit on Food Safety with cooking a delicious coconut cream chicken korma. Over the unit we learnt about slicing, dicing and chopping, experimenting with easier dishes and health snack foods (and maybe just a little baking to balance out the health mahi!).
We learnt to identify and mitigate hazards in the kitchen and how to avoid contaminating food by keeping ourselves tidy and washing hands and surfaces before working. We also learnt about cross contamination and using the correct boards and clean knives when working with high risk foods. And finally we learnt how important it is to cook chicken correctly! It seems we had success!
