Congratulations to our students who competed in the Dunedin Intermediate Triathlon Championships on Wednesday in Port Chalmers.

1st Year 8 Individual - Victoria Aburn

1st Year 7 Individual - Mela Shanks

1st Year 7 Girls Team - Ruby Burgess, Charlotte Leith, Elzanne Hamman

Well done girls, what fantastic results and a fun day out had by all our students who competed in this awesome event.

Tennis

Last Friday, Lucy Gough and Iona Jennings took part in the Otago Intermediate Tennis Championships.  Congratulations to Lucy who finished 1st, with Iona coming a close 2nd.  Both girls have qualified for the Southern Region Championship.  We wish you all the best.

SISS Rugby 7s

Congratulations to Charlotte Va'afusuaga, Grace Hastie and Hannah Lithgow for being selected in for the NZ Rugby Development camp for U20s. Another step towards a black jersey that you all aspire to wear one day. We are all so proud of you and wish you all the best.

With the 2023 year drawing to an end St Hilda's Rugby has decided to enter the NZ Condor 7s which take place in Mount Maunganui. We are super excited to take this group of young ladies away to face some of the best young talent within New Zealand. Being one of the two Highlander teams being given an invitation to attend, rather than a qualifier like most regions, we headed to South Island Championships which were held in Fairlie. For our girls, not knowing what to expect, the result of making final and coming second to Christchurch Girls, who have been past NZ Condors Champions in recent years, tells us we are not out of our depth. We will work over the coming weeks on our fitness and skill and give our very best when we pull on that St Hilda's jersey. Thanks to Mr and Mrs Bradfield for helping us in Fairlie and also thanks to the parents who came to support us.

Volleyball

Over the weekend, our Junior A Volleyball team competed in the Otago Junior Volleyball Championships here in Dunedin.  This is the first tournament with this group of young wahine.  They had a fantastic weekend.  Playing in a pool against Trinity Catholic College and Logan Park High School, the team continued to do well and finished 7th from 12 teams.  A fantastic experience for the team and it gives them great encouragement going forward. Thank you to their coach Chelsea Watts and also Penny Kershaw for supporting on the sideline.

Rowing

Otago Secondary Schools Regatta on Otago Harbour

Some action shots of the day follow.  Special shout out to our fabulous Coxswains - Bonnie McGregor, Holly Chisholm and Tayla Nutting - it's a busy job for our Coxswains getting boats on water safely, instructing and motivating their crews, organising their preparation and avoiding cargo ships! With all results still pending, congratulations to Georgia Graham who won the 500m and 100m events.  Well done to everyone for another good early regatta.
