2023 Leavers' Service

Rachel McMillan —

Leavers' Service 2023 was special for a lot of reasons; especially because it marked a significant turning point for the Class of '23. These incredible wāhine can hold their heads high as they take pride in their strength, beauty, intelligence and grace. While we will miss each one of you a lot at St Hilda's, it is time for you to infuse the world with your broad skill sets. Young adults like you will lead the way with integrity, pride and determination so we have great faith in the way you will achieve awesome things.

This Leavers' Event was also significant as the inaugural opportunity to enjoy sharing extra space in our Chapel and the expansive new views from Whitby with whānau. It felt fitting to say farewell to ākonga from the special kura where you have grown and formed lasting bonds. We hope you will remember to visit us and maintain the awesome connections you have made here. Thank you to Dr Townsely and Bishop Steven for overseeing the service, Carthika Luxmanan, the PFA and Old Girls Association for the helping proceedings and gifting gorgeous peonies, the Student Council and Choir volunteers, Ms Pickering, Thanuja and Iris for your part in supporting and documenting such a poignant event.

A special thank you to Christy Foster, our Deputy Head Girl, who organised this occasion rounding off the night with a meaningful speech underpinned by school values (that Christy embodies so well). Each student in the Class of 2023 is delightful to work with and they all deserve to be really proud of the accomplishments they celebrated on this memorable occasion.

We wish you all the very best for your bright futures, kia kaha!
