Isla Huffadine —

Here we are, back for Term 2 😀 It has been lovely hearing what all of the students got up to during the break, either working, relaxing and some traveling!

We kicked off the term with our annual Year 9 Parents Dinner. This was a great chance for the parents to come and experience a hostel dinner, whilst getting to know some of the other parents better. It sounds like this was a lovely evening and we look forward to our next one!

On Tuesday the Year 9s created cards for Mother's Day. There was a lot of time and effort put into ideas and designing, with each card unique for someone special. Perhaps you might be the lucky recipient of one this weekend!

Koru this week has been on for both the Year 9 and 10 students. Our Year 10s looked at 'Armoured Hearts', identifying what they do to disguise emotions or how they were feeling. We spoke about having a 'free heart' and what this might look like, before recording our thoughts down on a heart shaped card. This is always a reflective session, where we feel more vulnerable, so it was heart warming to see the girls supporting one another ❤

The Year 9s started their emotions unit, looking at the meaning of different emotions we may feel. Each student had to draw an emotion based on the word, before sharing and getting into a game of 'emotional charades'. This was highly entertaining and Evie stole the show with her final performance! I think this is our new favourite Koru game 😆

This year we are hosting a hostel Pink Ribbon Breakfast and Bake Sale down at school. Our breakfast is going to be held on Thursday the 26th of May at 7am and our Bake Sale will be held at morning tea on the same day.

The juniors are going to be whipping up lots of treats for the sale, all themed pink! Please remember to bring along some cash to school that day, to support The Breast Cancer Foundation and to get yourself a delicious baked sweet!

Any donations for our fundraising efforts are greatly appreciated and for each donation made, you will have the opportunity to be part of the 'Jelly Bean Guess'. If your donation is made online, make sure to leave a number (how many Jelly Beans you think are in the jar) beside your name to go in the draw to win! There will be more information closer to the time.

We are looking forward to raising awareness around Breast Cancer and celebrating those nearest to us who have been affected by this illness in some way 💕💗💓

Robyn, Mrs Rathbone, Mrs Barron, Meg and Esther are heading off on Country Visits this Sunday. Make sure to say hello if you see them out and about next week! We hope you all have a fabulous weekend. And to all of the Mums, Dads and Mother figures out there, we hope you enjoy Mother's Day on Sunday 💐🌸
