Stills National Photography Competition

Congratulations Lyla Hemmingsen for being a finalist in the Stills National Photography PLACE category. In the PLACE category images are required to transport the judges somewhere. Where in the world is completely up to the artist - whether lush nature, quiet starry nights, bustling city streets or somewhere they have never seen. 

For the past few years Lyla has been heading out to take photos of Auroras in and around Dunedin, feeling lucky that they are visible but having to practice patience as they come and go during the evening. 

This winning photo was taken at 11pm. Lyla has used her technical skills, composition and editing choices to make her place, Hoopers Inlet, stand out.
