Junior Rowing Regatta

The St Hildas rowing squad attended the SI Junior Regatta in the weekend. A squad of 30 made nine A finals and seven B finals with some good solid racing across the weekend. 

Highlight results being new season pairings of Sienna Hore and Maddie Cockburn placing 3rd in the A final Novice double; Christy Foster and Kate Beaton continuing another strong season placing 5th in the u18 double and 6th in the u17 double A final as well as a 6th in the u17 single A final for Christy. 

Another new season combination of Perri Hore and Lola Castles placed 7th in their u15 A final and even with a broken toe Maggie Dowling and Olivia Ollerenshaw managed to place 9th in their A final of the u16 double. Ruby Flannery just missed out on an A final but came away winning the B final of the u16 single and Perri Hore placed 3rd. The under 16 coxed eight of Maggie Dowling, Perri Hore, Ruby Flannery, Jess Broderick, Anna Fulton, Aya Moetaua, Olivia Erasmus and Olivia Ollerenshaw + Bonnie McGregor placing 5th in their A final.

Our novices also had some good results with a 6th placing in the A final of the coxed octuple (Esther Whiteside, Elsie Homer, Lola Castles, Stella Dineen, Georgia Graham, Georgia Cockburn, Aya Moetaua, Honor Garder and Bonnie McGregor) and novice coxed quad of Esther Whiteside, Aya Moetaua, Liesle Tolson, Maddie Cockburn and Bonnie McGregor cox placing 2nd in their B final and u15 coxed quad of Esther Whiteside, Georgia Cockburn, Georgia Graham, Honor Garden and Xanthe Payne finishing 3rd in their B final.

The squad now looks forward to South Island Secondary Schools in two weeks time.
