Beth Anderson —

Kia ora everyone,

Well, that is the first two weeks done and dusted. It has been so lovely seeing all of the students back in action after the holiday break, getting back into routines and making the most of the last term of the year.

We started the second week back with a country-themed Tribe Dinner. We had our experts explain to us the different types of line dances such as the Do-si-doe and square dancing. They played the guitar and the violin. All students were dressed in their tribe colours to try and get as many points as possible before the end of year count up. All students put so much effort into their tribe outfits and it was great seeing everyone with a smile on their face. After the dancing, Ross and his team cooked the most delicious meal. Hot chicken, ribs, corn on the cob, salad, jalapeno bites and an assortment of different desserts were served. Due to the weather, the dancing and eating had to be inside the dining hall, this was different to how we usually have our tribe dinners but it was nice to have a change. We thank the kitchen team for all of their efforts on Monday and we can't thank you enough for the delicious food. 🤩

On Tuesday, Koru with the Year 9s continued on with their unit around being more assertive and the differences between being passive or aggressive. During this session, the students got into groups and were handed various different scenarios. They were given 10 minutes to create skits showing how they could introduce being more assertive. Although there were a lot of giggles, they learnt a lot.

Looking into Week 3, we have a busy one coming up! How can it already be Week 3? We look forward to Night Prayers with Dr Townsley on Tuesday the 24th at 6.45 pm in the Lounge, Koru for Year 9s on Wednesday, Thursday we have the senior Christmas Dinner and Leavers Dinner, then surfing for the Year 9 activity on Saturday with Bex.
