Tolcarne News

Isla Huffadine —

Today marks the end of week 3 - meaning only one more week of school classes for our Year 13 girls!

With Labour Day on Monday, everyone enjoyed an extended weekend at home. However we were straight back into busy Tolcarne life, with some of the Year 12 girls presenting their speeches as to why they would like to be a Head Boarder in 2021. They did an incredible job, representing themselves well and speaking with ease to the entire hostel group. We are excited that so many girls stepped forward to be considered for the role, and know that they will all do a great job of being Year 13 leaders.

On Wednesday evening we were lucky enough to have Dee Copeland come and speak to our senior students, focussing on nutrition with young females. This was an engaging session, with plenty of questions asked and new thoughts and ideas gathered. A massive thank you to Dee for taking the time to come and speak to us!

Last night Mrs Rathbone taught the Year 9 girls how to make Chia Seed Puddings. They made lots of creations, leaving them to set before enjoying them for supper. This is another great option for the girls to make in the mornings for breakfast, or even to take to school for morning tea and lunch!

This Saturday we are hosting our Tribe Games Day! This is a great opportunity for the whole hostel to get involved and interact with all year groups. There is a busy schedule planned, sure to create lots of fierce competition! Make sure to keep up to date with this event via our instagram and Facebook pages.

Next week is going to be very eventful. We have our Christmas/Leavers Dinner, Secret Santa, final Tribe Dinner and the Year 9 Waihola camp. With lots to look forward to next week, have a relaxing weekend and recharge for a fun few days ahead! ðŸ’•
