Shannon Prentice —

We had four St Hilda's crews compete at the Otago Southland Regional Hip Hop competition on Sunday 6th August. All the categories were super challenging and there was an enormous amount of talent on the stage.

  • Paranoia (Isla O'Neill and Isla Kamo) performed well in their preliminary round against a whopping 22 other crews, coming 13th.
  • Graphite (Amara Ogbuehi, Isla Kamo, Issy Young, Anahera Koni, Gabrielle La Hood, Olivia Bezett, Isla O'Neil, Lila Howley, Bonnie Wilson, Sophie Wagner) performed in a section with 10 other crews, and did well to come 8th in their heat.
  • Revolution the year 7 and 8 mega crew (Lucy Audeau, Emma Bezett, Amelia Bunn, Xanthe Dillion, Arli Fisher, Stella Harvey, Sophie King, Māia Koni, Izzy O'Brien, Clara Platt, Katie Soper, Olivia Williams) came 1st in their category, progressing to Nationals.
  • Entity our senior crew (Elisa Fitzgerald, Victoria Avery, Chika Oshima, Lizzy Park, Emily Wright) came fourth in their finals, progressing to Nationals.

The following St Hilda's students also performed amazingly for RASA: Lola Matahaere-Veint, Neve Crossan, Grace McAuley, Flo Barnett, Charlotte Cardno, and Maisie O'Donnell.

A HUGE thank you needs to be passed onto Sophie Burke, Emily Wright, Charlie Williams, Molly Gaffaney, Sophie Wispinski, and Bonnie McGregor, the Hip Hop coaches who gave up endless time and energy to their crews. You were strong, positive role models for the younger students and your hard work paid off.

Bring on Nationals! Sept 2nd here in Dunedin at Trinity Catholic College.
