Tolcarne News

Isla Huffadine —

Kia ora Tolcarne Whanau πŸ‘‹ Welcome back to Term 3! We hope you all had a fabulous break and enjoyed time with family, friends and pets - relaxing and recharging for another 10 weeks of school. It is set to be a busy term, with lots of events and activities planned. We are excited already and can't wait to get back into the swing of things!

On Sunday afternoon we welcomed our boarders back to Tolcarne. It was great to hear all of the holiday stories, what the girls had been up to and even about how some were lucky enough to take trips overseas - such excitement that this is starting to happen again! We also hosted our Year 10 families for dinner on Sunday evening, which was a success! It was lovely to have the parents join us for some kai and to socialise with one another.

This week we have been busy getting back into the usual routines. The weather has been slightly miserable, with lots of rain canceling sports - but the students are all ready for netball this weekend!

Koru was on for both the Year 9 and 10 groups this week. The Year 9s started working on a special project which we will finish next week - all top secret! The Year 10s looked at values and what were most important. We had a great conversation around morals, different values between friends and how we would categorise our list of personal values into different areas of life. We will continue with this topic next session.

Our after school activity this week was crafts, due to the extreme rainy weather we had on Tuesday! We made MacramΓ© key rings and started creating a gem art wall design - the perfect indoor activity.

Remember there is still time to register for the Parent Seminar Tour starting on Sunday - the 31st of July. This is a great opportunity to hear from Marcelle Nader-Turner and Ange Rathbone on the topic of 'Parenting for Resilience and Resilience for Parenting'.

This tour is an open invite to EVERYONE in the local area, we would love for you to bring along your whanau and local friends. Ange and Marcelle have lots of great insight to share, which is beneficial to all within the community. We would love to see as many of you there as possible πŸ˜€  To register, see the link here.

We hope you all enjoy the weekend ahead and with the Tolcarne Social in Week 3 - it will be the perfect time to get those 'neon' costumes sorted! Lets hope for some sunshine β˜€β˜€πŸŒˆπŸŒˆ Ma tΔ“ wā!
