Tolcarne News

Celia Wyatt - Tolcarne —

Kia ora whānau,

Another week filled with activities for the girls, with plenty of sports and extracurricular options for everyone. We experienced some heavy rain in the middle of the week, but we were fortunate enough to wrap up the week with a warm weekend for the girls to enjoy.

On Tuesday, a group of Year 9 girls gathered in the activities room with me to help make coconut ice fudge for the St Hilda’s School Fair this Saturday. The girls were fantastic and had a great time getting creative together.

Later that evening, some Year 10 girls assisted Robyn in the kitchen to make sherbet with lollipops for the Tolcarne Sweet Stall, which will also be sold at the St Hilda’s Fair. These turned out wonderfully – thanks to the girls for their help!

On Thursday evening, the Year 9 girls had the opportunity to attend night prayers in the lounge, led by Dr Townsley. A group of girls actively participated in the activities, and it was wonderful to see them engage and learn from Dr Townsley in a group setting.

We are looking ahead to s sunshine day on Saturday, allowing the girls to head down to school and enjoy the St Hilda’s Fair. A number of girls will be actively involved at different times throughout the day, selling at our Tolcarne Sweet Stall. A big thank you to these girls for their help and dedication to make our stall a success.

On Sunday, the Year 9 girls will have an amazing time at Sandfly Bay, where they will compete in a sand sledding challenge down the sand dunes. Weather permitting, the girls will have a blast, enjoying the sunny weather, getting competitive with one another, and making the most of some time outdoors away from the hostel. A big thank you to Bex for organising this fantastic opportunity!

Next week, the girls have a long weekend to look forward to, as Otago Anniversary Day will be celebrated with a public holiday on Monday. The hostel will close at 5:00 pm on Friday, 21 March, and will reopen at 3:00 pm on Monday, 24 March.

Have a wonderful rest of your week everyone. See you at the fair on Saturday.
