Creatives in Schools Project

Eliana Gray —

Kia ora koutou katoa!

I’m Eliana Gray. Some of you may remember me from last year when I was lucky enough to be the Artist in Residence, working with the Yr10 Performing Arts class.

This year, I’m back under the Ministry of Education’s ‘Creatives in Schools’ initiative, and am thrilled to be working with a huge variety of classes in the Dance, Visual Art, Performing Arts and Music departments, as well as the lunchtime Theatresports group.

The official title for the work we are doing together is ‘Poetic Invigoration’. What this means in practice is that we are exploring how poetic techniques and ways of thinking can enrich our understanding of these different creative areas.

There’s a lot of experimentation, a lot of listening to ourselves and figuring out what we want to communicate, and lots of fun.

I feel truly blessed to be back in the warm and supportive St Hilda’s community.
