South Island Rowing Championships
Congratulations to all our rowers who took part in the SISS Rowing Champions in the weekend at Twizel.
By Sunday, all our rowers had made it into A & B finals which is an impressive result. Congratulations to Georgia Graham who finished 2nd in the U17 single, Lola Castles with a Bronze in U18 singles and our Novice Coxed Quad finished 3rd in their final (Marley Hore, Isla Turner, Kenzie McLachlan, India Garden & Cox Holly Chisholm). There is a lot of organisation and hard work that makes this happen, so a big thank you to Belinda Colling, parents and supporters, coaches Jas, Hannah and Georgia.
On Saturday night, the crew also blessed our new single boat. Finding a name for the boat is always hard however our senior rowers were really confident in wanting to name her, Belinda Colling after our current parent Rowing Manager. Belinda has been a true asset in this space with her background in high performance and outstanding organisation over the past five years. Belinda continues to put our ākonga at the forefront of everything that happens in rowing and the school and rowers are very fortunate to have her.
St Hilda's will be represented by 13 rowers at the upcoming and last event of the year - Maadi Cup. All the best for the next two weeks of training and the regatta.
Athletics: Jennian Homes NZ Track and Field Championship 2025
Congratulations to Charlee Farquhar who came away with a Silver and Bronze medal (Shot Put & Discus) at the recent Athletic National Championships held here in the weekend. I attended some events in the weekend and saw a number of our NZ/Olympics athletes compete, I hope many of you popped in and had a nosey.
