Sarah Ranby —

As we move to promote Mental Health Awareness Week, our library displays encourage students to disconnect from their devices and reconnect with their wairua instead.

Reading helps us to switch off from the chaos that can at times overwhelm us, and draws our attention inward. It allows us time and space to make sense of the world around us and to find our place within it.

In short, reading is good for you! And here’s why:

Reading…

  • Sharpens your mind

  • Reduces stress

  • Boosts sleep

  • Prevents depression

  • Expands vocabulary

  • Broadens your imagination

Students: if you need help finding your next read, let me know your reading requirements by filling in one of the reading surveys on the issues desk in the library. I’d love to help you reconnect with your wairua by providing you with your best fit book.
