Disclaimer this is not an attempt to promote visiting Macca's for breakfast! But in the name of research we took one for the team and dragged ourselves to Macca's for breakfast bagels...
After a quick wizz through the drive through (just to see what it's about) we popped inside. The Year 13's showed me how effective the self-service checkout is. We also saw how easy it was to get more than we initially wanted - "would you like to add a hashbrown to your order?" "How about a coke with that?".
It was interesting to ponder why the online menu has no prices? (Maybe to entice us to go into the store? Or simply to buy more without considering how much we are spending?). The red and yellow colour psychology of the branding did it's trick, out tastebuds were tickled and we felt happy, or maybe it was the inspirational quotes and feel good messages telling us about how we're contributing towards the good cause of Ronald McDonalds House, or maybe it was the slide out in the kids area?
Breakfast bagels being the theme of the week, the Year 12's made their own. We have expensive (but healthy) tastes with cream cheese, tomato, spinach and salmon bagels (at $3.50 a head). But after a cost comparison, the Year 12's produce came out tops on a BLT Bagel from Maccas at $7.29. Also considering the nutritional value and being able to customize to your specific nutritional needs makes "home cook" a sure winner.
