Isla Huffadine —

Kia ora Tolcarne whanau. It has been another busy week for the boarders, with many sporting finals and social events!

The weekend activity was a trip to the Otago Museum, going to the Discovery Centre and visiting the butterflies 🦋 It looked like a fabulous trip and a highlight to be in the tropical heat while it was cold outside!

The Regional Aerobics competition was also held across the weekend, with many of our students competing. There were fantastic results with a selection of teams heading to Nationals later in the year - well done everyone!

On Monday afternoon the 1st XV Rugby Team played in the Highlanders Final. They bet Southland Girls High School and now move on to the South Island Final this weekend, playing Christchurch Girls. The team gave it their all, playing a strong game right until the final whistle! Check out the Otago Daily Times article here to read more about the game. Thanks again to all of the supporters who went along and watched - bring on the South Island Final on Saturday!

Following the success of the rugby, the Division 2 and 3 Hockey Finals took place. The Junior Colts team took out Division 2, with the Year 13s taking out Division 3. What a fabulous effort winning all 3 Dunedin Divisions - well done to our hockey gals!

On Tuesday after school we baked, creating a range of chocolate muffins and rocky road treats! We had Koru for the Year 10s that evening, finishing off our unit on values by creating a 'Mission Statement'. This Mission Statement was for the students to take with them into Year 11, being a year older and considered a senior at Tolcarne. It was a great session and everyone participated well, sharing various ideas and thoughts.

Wednesday night meant it was time for the Junior Otago Boys High School Social. With the theme being Hawaiian, there were plenty of flowers, summery outfits and fake tan to be seen! This was a great night, with lots of dancing and chatting. Thanks to Otago Boys for hosting a successful boarders social!
