Year 10 P.E

In Year 10 P.E, students have been working on an Adaptive Sports module. We visited the Edgar Centre where ParaFed Dunedin ran some wheelchair basketball games and a mini tournament for the Year 10 students.

Throughout this unit, students have been engaging in challenging physical activities that are competed in Adaptive Sports. We believe this to be a prime opportunity to develop the tolerance, and appreciation of diversity that our students need to be effective global citizens. The focus was mostly on enjoying new sports, but also recognising disabled athletes as genuine athletes in spite of the physical limitations they encounter.

Students have shown 'Better together' by celebrating and accepting diversity, showing compassion and empathy. Students were encouraged to build a sense of belonging within these P.E classes regardless of who you are.

Mrs Grant and Miss Geary are proud of the Year 10 students for modeling all the above throughout this unit.
