Tolcarne News

We had a busy few days last weekend, with various activities on for the girls to enjoy. Saturday morning was an op shopping adventure with Maddy. The girls headed out to a variety of op shops, finding some hidden gems! They also bought jars and had their first Bin Inn experience, discovering all types of new whole foods and bulk buy options. This was a great way for the students to get out and visit new stores in Dunedin that they had not come across before. We are already planning the next trip!

On Saturday afternoon a group of girls headed out on Robyn's mystery bus tour. This was a hit, seeing all of the local sights, finishing with a dip in the sea and of course some takeaways! It was a busy Saturday

On Monday evening we finally got to host our first Tribe dinner and competition evening! The costumes were worth the wait and we loved the enthusiasm from all year groups! Each Tribe created their new chant, finishing with a 'chant off'. Falkland took out the win, quickly accumulating 50 points onto the board. A big shout out to our new Tribe Leaders, you all did a fantastic job of creating a positive and fun atmosphere for all to be apart of. Bring on the rest of the Tribe Competitions for Term 1!! See below for our 2021 Tribe photos.

The Year 11 cohort had their first session of Korero on Tuesday night. This was lead by Ziggy and Ross, starting off with a main question for discussion. These sessions will be a great chance for the girls to think deeply and reflect on a topic with their peers. It is also lovely to have Ross (from the kitchen team) joining Ziggy to facilitate Korero.

Koru this week was on for our Year 9 girls. They spent the session focusing on our Tolcarne Values, unpacking what they meant. These values include, Empathy, Belonging, Integrity and Respect. This was a great opportunity to really think about what they represented and how we would act in certain scenarios to reflect each value. All of the students had great ideas and bounced off one another, which was great to see after a long week!

During the week our juniors spent time decorating their individual pin-boards. This was a great opportunity for the students to create a special space, representing them and showing everything that they enjoy. The abundance of photos, lights and crafts was amazing to see all put together!

We farewelled Ella on Thursday evening. Ella was one of our prep supervisors and amazing yoga teacher! We will miss her weekly yoga sessions and bubbly personality - all the best for your new adventures

Tonight a large group of girls are heading to the rugby, preparing to watch the Highlanders take on the Crusaders! We also have paddle boarding on Saturday, so it will be all go around Tolcarne. Have a wonderful weekend everyone
