Hockey Liaison Report

With the hockey season coming to an end all St Hilda’s teams have been extremely successful.

For tournament week the St Hilda’s Senior A team headed away to Christchurch for the Premier Secondary Schools South Island Tournament. After losing the teams only goalie in game two, they were faced with a tough week ahead. The team performed really well competing with some of the best teams in the country and managed to get two wins without a goalie.

Our St Hilda’s Colts team attended the 2nd division tournament held in Dunedin. They played extremely well as a team, and after winning the semis in extra time shoot outs they came away with a convincing 4-2 win, placing 1st overall.

The Secondary School competition finished this week, where St Hilda’s showed their strength throughout the grades. We had one team competing in division 3, and 4 teams competing in division two. In division two our 9As had performed well all season and placed 3rd. Our Senior B team played a nail-bitting final, but came away with gold after going into shootouts against Columba Senior B. Our St Hilda’s Colts have played outstanding in division one, finishing 4th after a convincing win against Otago Girls Senior A. Our Senior A have continued their excellent season, coming away with a 2-1 win against Columba Senior A. This was a tightly contested match, meaning the girls placed 1st in Division one!

A huge thank you to all of the coaches and managers who have given up their time to help our teams this season, without their time and effort we wouldn’t have been so successful.
