Senior Dance Showcase

On Thursday 20th October, 23 dance students performed in the annual Dance Showcase. Whānau were invited along to see what the senior dance students had been working on this year. It's been a fun packed year in dance where senior students have been exploring different genres of dance: we have learnt Cook Island dance, Belly Dancing, Can Can, Fosse Jazz and Contemporary Dance. As well as this, Level 3 students have been working on large scale dance productions, where they used Tūrangawaewae to inspire their pieces, exploring their own places of belonging in their dances. Level 3 students had to teach their choreography to other students and make all design decisions for the pieces. These were performed at the showcase.

Some junior students stepped up to also perform in the Showcase and in the Level 3 dances - Miss Geary and senior dance students are very thankful for these awesome people.

Overall it was a stunning performance, loved by audience members. Miss Geary would like to extend her thanks to those who supported the showcase, in particular the Arts Department and Belle King-Begg for taking these stunning photos. She is proud of all who performed and wishes her Year 13 Dance students all the best for their futures
