Interested in hosting an International Student?

We have some lovely students joining us at St Hilda's in 2023 and we are looking for host families who will help to make them feel a part of our school community.

In 2023 we have 3 students from our sister school Kun-ei coming to join Year 11 for the year as well as well as 2 students from Hong Kong, one into Year 12 who wants to stay for two years and one into Year 10 who is planning to stay through to Year 13.

As well as this we have a couple of younger students (Yr 8/9) who are planning to come for 8 - 10 weeks. One from China and one from Japan.

We are looking for families who can offer a positive home environment for our International students. This might be long term or short term.

Remuneration is paid fortnightly and is tax free.

If you can provide a high school student with a good home, have an interest in student life, and would be happy to support a high school student to have a fantastic stay in Dunedin with great education we are keen to hear from you.

We require all homestay families to:

● provide a furnished room, all food requirements, laundry, and to offer care and positive guidance

● maintain a good relationship with the family of the student where possible and with the school

● to be police vetted

Training and support is available as well as regular home visits and meetings. If you are interested in becoming a ‘homestay parent’ please contact the International Director (Judy Maw) on 021608418 or send an email for an information pack to: international@shcs.school.nz
