St Hilda's Collegiate School

Dear Parents and Caregivers

“Embrace uncertainty. Some of the most beautiful chapters in our lives won’t have a title until much later.” — Bob Goff

In times of uncertainty we often need to anchor ourselves in what we can control; our responses to events, our family and friendships, what we know best and our daily, regular routines. School is such a place that can comfort and protect us, and I was reminded of this last night as I sat with an enthusiastic group of capable and knowledgeable women, as we planned for the St Hilda's Collegiate 125th anniversary on the 19/20/21 March 2021.

These Old Girls of St HIlda's are helping us to organise this impressive milestone, and I am excited for our current students who will be part of such a special celebration. Connecting back to the traditions of the school, recognising and celebrating our roots and whakapapa, gives a sense of belonging, purpose and optimism.

The events and activities that make up the 125th festivities are for everyone, this is not a 'reunion' per se, but an inclusive community celebration for all who have been involved with the school. Ex and current Families, staff, Board members, and students are welcomed and encouraged to register. Please spread the word to friends and family, make up a group, or come on your own - we really want to share your stories, hear of your learning journey and ensure all can enjoy reminiscing and reconnecting.

A school community that has weathered two world wars, the great depression, the Spanish Flu epidemic, share market crashes, a global financial crisis and is now supporting young women in these uncertain times, can give us all confidence that in its history we find reassurance, in its present we find belonging and in its future we find hope.

Registrations are open for the 125th Anniversary in March next year. This event will celebrate St Hilda's turning 125, and all (past and present) parents, families, staff, Board members and Old Girls are welcome to attend. There are a number of functions and activities planned for the weekend of March 19th-21st - you can register for events here.

If any families have land near main roads and thoroughfares, and would be kind enough to allow us to erect billboards advertising the 125th weekend, we would be grateful for your support. Please contact Amanda Burke at aburke@shcs.school.nz, if you can assist us.
