A busy weekend has led to some great results....

New Zealand Cross Country Championships

Congratulations to Zara Geddes who won the NZ Senior Girls 4000m Cross Country Championship in Nelson on Saturday. This is a great achievement for Zara who has had some great tussles with second place runner Catherine from Otago Girls over the past few weeks. Zara ran this distance in 14min 21sec! She also was part of the winning Otago Southland Senior Girls 5x2000m provincial relay team -  achieving the fastest girls time. These incredible results have got her selected for the NZSSAA cross-country team traveling over to Adelaide in August.

Taekwondo

Sophia Le too part in the 2022 TUNZ South Island Championship in Christchurch on the 4th of June. Sophia won the Silver medal in the colour belt Poomsae individual event, the Bronze in the team, and Two Gold medals in the Kyorugi.

Roncalli Junior Netball Tournament

5am my alarm clock went off on Sunday morning! Did I really need to get up and what is the weather like? Unfortunately, I did need to get up as our Junior Netball teams were traveling to Timaru for the Roncalli Junior Development Tournament. Despite the freezing cold weather, the teams were fortunate to have a dry day. It's a busy day, with 5 games in quick concession. All of our teams played well and there were some close contests.

9 Magic: This team competed in the B team section. In the semi final they played Ashburton and won, they went onto the final against Craighead. This was a close game which went into extra time and SHCS came out on top.

10 Comets: Playing in the B & Mixed section, this team came to play! Winning their pool play, they came up against Roncalli in the semi and went onto the final against Timaru Girls. Again, SHCS came first.

9A: With Waitaki Girls withdrawn from the tournament, our 9A team only had 2 pool play games against Roncalli and Timaru Girls. In the semi final they played Ashburton and then onto the final against Columba. A defensive game meant a low score of 8-9 to Columba in the last few seconds of the game.

10A: A strong 3 wins in pool play brought the team against Ashburton in the semi final. Unfortunately, the team needed a few extra minutes to catch Ashburton and lost by 2! The team finished strong and came third after beating Roncalli.

Back on the bus for some rest, food and singing!! Thank you for a good day out.
