Junior Sports Week
This week our students took part in the OSSSA Junior Sports Week here in Dunedin. What a fun week they have had together, trying new sports they don’t usually play or a modified version of something they have played.
On Tuesday we had two Year 9 teams playing in the Basketball 3x3 tournament. The girls adapted to the fast game really well, having lots of fun on the court together!
On Wednesday our Year 10’s enjoyed learning the game on Ki-O-Rahi in the sunshine at Kaikorai Valley College. The students had a skills session, followed by games against teams from across Otago.
Thursday was the Sevens Rugby Tournament out at Kettle Park. We had a Year 9 & Year 10 team compete.
The Year 9 students had not played rugby before - improving in every game they played, giving it their all and having lots of fun learning the game!
Our Year 10 girls played fast exciting games, connecting well together. They made the semi finals and played Queens High School. The team ended up with a close loss, but seeing them give it their all until the final whistle made me so proud!
A huge thanks to all of our students who represented St Hilda's, they were such a pleasure to support. Also a big thank you to our parents who came and helped over the week. Both the managing and coaching support was outstanding!
