Tolcarne News

It has been a very short week at Tolcarne, with the girls arriving back on Tuesday night from an extended long weekend! The rest of the Term is going to fly by, with Easter rapidly approaching and then the last day in a couple of weeks. We hope you all enjoyed an extra couple of days together, relaxing and making the most of the sunny weather

Please take note of our key dates for the remainder of Term 1;

  • Easter closed long weekend - Thursday April the 1st, at 5pm and Tolcarne reopens Tuesday April the 6th, at 3pm
  • End of Term 1 - Tolcarne closed Friday the 16th of April, at 5pm
  • Start of Term 2 - Tolcarne open Sunday the 2nd of May, at 3pm

It was a big weekend for the St Hilda's and Tolcarne team, welcoming many Old Girls back for the 125th Celebrations. With over 130 Tolcarne 'Alumni' showing up for lunch and tours, Mrs Rust, Mrs Rathbone and Mrs Barron were very busy! Barb did a fantastic job in the kitchen, catering to all of the smiling faces - who were so happy to be back in the place they used to call home.

It was a very special time for these women, reminiscing on moments they shared, with life long friends they made at Tolcarne. This reminds us of the strong friendship ties that are created under our roof, and how special St Hilda's and Tolcarne are in the lives of our past and present students.

For our current girls, it will be interesting for when you come back (maybe in another 25 years!) to see the changes and reconnect with school friends. These Tolcarne years are such special times within your life. Just looking at the connection the ladies have in the images below, shows they have cherished their hostel memories close to their hearts.
A big thank you to everyone who made the weekend happen, it would not have been as successful without you all! And to Amanda Burke, your organisation was seamless - you are truly amazing!

In Year 9 Koru this week the girls shared their timelines to the group. This was a great chance for all to acknowledge important events within their life, touching on future dreams and plans. Everyone did extremely well, as it isn't always easy sharing in front of your peers. The timeline designs were amazing - each so personal and decorated with all sorts of stickers and sparkles! Well done girls.

Tonight we have another outing to the rugby, watching the Highlanders take on the mighty Hurricanes! This is always a busy night and one all of our students look forward to.

On Saturday we are heading out to St Clair, taking on the waves for another attempt at surfing. It is sure to be a jam packed few days with both of these activities, making the most of one of our last open weekends for Term 1!

Have a fabulous weekend before we see you back for another short week before Easter
