Rockquest

Last weekend St Hilda’s was represented by 2 bands, Summer Sparks and WDK, at the Rockquest competition held at the Taieri College Performing Arts Centre. Rockquest is a nationwide, live and original music youth event. It aims to motivate young musicians to showcase their ability and realise the heights they can reach in their music careers, and to encourage their peers to support original New Zealand music.

Summer Sparks consists of Darcia Heath (drums), Holly Hesson (vocals), Phoebe Jaquiery (guitar), Lydia Tumaru (keyboard) and performed their original song “Finally Free”.

Both bands performed at a high level and have been growing immensely as songwriters and performers over the course of this year. They can all be proud of their performance and original song and I look forward to seeing their musical potential continue to grow in the future.
