St Hilda's Collegiate School

Kia ora whanau,

As per our request at the end of Term 1 we again ask that parents and caregivers not drive into Cobden St to collect their daughters at the end of the day.

We understand the issues created by no free parking around the school, however cars double parking in Cobden St for up to 15 minutes are causing considerable congestion in the street, limiting access for other traffic and creating congestion at key points. Our contractors are finding it increasingly difficult to access the build site at that time of the day.

We are also concerned for the safety of our rangatahi as they try to cross the road, or move between double parked cars. Parking on yellow lines is also setting a dangerous precedent and we ask you to park further away and your daughter can then walk safely to your car.

We will be asking cars to move on if they are parked illegally on yellow lines or across the Archway, which is the main emergency exit, or any other school entrance points in Cobden St or Royal Terrace, both at morning drop off and the afternoon pick up.

We ask all parents to be respectful of the safety of students, and the responsibilities of staff on duty.

Ngā mihi nui

Jackie Barron
