Rockquest

Last week St Hilda’s was represented at Rockquest by 1 band, The Sapphire Skies, and a duo, Imogen and Thanuja. Rockquest is a nationwide, live and original music youth event. It aims to motivate young musicians to showcase their ability and realise the heights they can reach in their music careers, and to encourage their peers to support original New Zealand music.

Imogen Hornal and Thanuja Luxmanan both sang and played guitar to perform their original song "Running with the Wolves". The Sapphire Skies consists of Sophie Beardmore (guitar), Alice Graham (guitar), Sylvie Harper (voice), Lila Howley (drums) and performed their original song "Imagine". Extra exciting is that The Sapphire Skies made it through as Otago regional finalists where they now submit a video performing a new original song for the chance to be selected for the semi finals being held in Christchurch.

Both groups performed at a high level and have been growing immensely as songwriters and performers over the course of this year. They can all be proud of their performance and original song and I look forward to seeing their musical potential continue to grow in the future.
