Dear Parents and caregivers,
Thanks for your support and patience as we have worked through the logistics of closing the school for 4 weeks.
In these uncertain times, the strength of our community, our resilience and our 'Can do' attitude has come to the fore and staff are well prepared for the challenges ahead. We spent Tuesday and Wednesday planning courses, practising with different technology tools and looking ahead to prepare the best learning opportunities possible.
Sitting with most of the staff in the chapel as Mr Young and Mrs Maw took us through a refresher course on using Google hangouts, reminded me of the power of learning together, sharing ideas and problems, and how we are all facing new challenges and opportunities. Life long learning was happening right in front of me!! It was great and one of the positives of this difficult situation that we are finding ourselves in.
I hope you can all find the rainbows in this cloud - time together as a family, and conversations with your children without our usual frantic, rushing, frenzied lifestyle. The learning we will be offering your daughter from the 16th April onwards, will by necessity, be a paradigm shift. It will require them to be more independent, to structure their day, problem solve and be disciplined. All great skills for future learning and life.
The weeks ahead will be different, and they will not be easy, but they also offer us the opportunities to learn new skills, develop new attributes, strengthen our abilities.
“When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.” – Helen Keller
We wish you all the best for a safe, stress free, few weeks, and look forward to formally connecting with your daughters in two weeks time.
Mrs Jackie Barron
