St Hilda's Collegiate School

Dear Parents and Caregivers

It has been great to have all the students and staff back on site and to be moving towards the ‘new normal’ with certainty and an affirmed sense of purpose. It has been reassuring for all of us to be back into routines that are familiar and to be able to gather together (albeit in smaller groups) to share experiences, chat, laugh and work.

We will be following the government’s direction as restrictions are loosened, but will continue with the staggered finish at the end of the day, and the canteen ‘hot lunch’ option and on line ordering for next week.

The year 7 & 8 classes have had the most wonderful experience at Knox College having immersed themselves in WW1 and the social and historical implications of such a global event. The learning they have been involved in has been rich, deep and engaging and having spent some time with them as part of the programme, it has been wonderful to see their energy and enthusiasm. The staff led by Mrs Joint have enjoyed using the variety of settings to enhance the programme, and make the most of this special opportunity.

It was with some sadness that I received Ms Corkery’s resignation from the position of Deputy Principal. Ms Corkery has led and served this school community for nearly 23 years and will be a considerable loss to our staff and students. She has decided to take early retirement and we will farewell her formally at the end of this term.

The recruitment process for her replacement will begin shortly.

I hope you all have the chance to recharge batteries and reconnect over the long weekend, the weather forecast looks fantastic – enjoy.

Jackie Barron
