Tolcarne News
Kia ora Tolcarne whānau. What a week! It has been a busy few days, with our Boarding Open Day on Thursday and the lead up preparations. The 'do up your door night' is one of our favourite traditions, where each dorm decorates their door, with different themes and wee notes for potential new students.
This year we were so impressed with the level of effort each cohort put in, with the corridors being full of colour and overall happy vibes. With carnival themes, Disney Princesses, movies, babies and more - we had it all! Check out this video for a behind the scenes look into the day.
Well done everyone It is lovely to see the students putting in the same amount of effort that previous years have, as they all know how special it is to view as a prospective Year 9!
We had a successful Open Day, with the Year 13s being fantastic tour guides and representing Tolcarne with such pride and positivity. There were around 200 people in our Dining Room for lunch, with many new faces touring the hostel. We loved welcoming everyone into our home and are excited at the prospect of having some of these girls join us in 2024!
As well as our Year 13s, we would also like to thank the cleaning staff, Steve, Mr Rust and our hostel staff. Thank you for all of your work that helped to make the event a success! A special mention to our kitchen team for putting on a lovely lunch spread for our guests to enjoy - delicious as always
On Tuesday the Year 9s and I headed into town to do some shopping and to try out the new Cookie Time Bar.
The crowd favourite was the mini ice cream sandwich, followed by the broken cookie bags. If you're looking for a sugar fix, check it out - yum
Next week is looking to be just as busy at Tolcarne. We are preparing for our Pink Ribbon Breakfast, Bake Sale at school and have all of the formal preparations before the big event on Friday! The formal is always a special time for our seniors, so we can't wait to be part of the event with our nail bar evening next Thursday.
Have a fabulous weekend everyone! Ma tē wā
