Tolcarne News

Kia ora Tolcarne whānau. Today marks the half way point for Term 1 - how crazy is that? This term has been flying by and everyone seems to be in a good routine with school, sports, extra curricular activities and socialising time.

On Sunday Bex took the juniors to Sandfly Bay. This was a stunning day out on the Peninsula. After sand surfing and enjoying the beach, they headed for an ice cream on the way home

It was a busy night for Dr Townsley on Tuesday, taking a very full session of Night Chats. This was the Year 9s first opportunity to head along, so they were keen to see what it was all about.

We had Year 9 Koru on Wednesday, where the students started working on their 'Life Maps'. These involve significant events in each students life, along with goals and plans for the future. We will continue working on our individual Life Maps for the next few weeks, before presenting to the group.

As part of a combined effort to support Hawkes Bay Anglican schools, along with the Whanaungatanga Groups and Dr Townsley at school, Tolcarne is working on contributing key chains to go in care packages. The juniors are making these with Robyn during prep time, putting a lot of aroha into making them special for the receiving student. We look forward to finishing these off and helping to support our sister Anglican schools

We are excited to start tutorials this year with Hazlett Tutoring Centre. They will offer private, one-on-one in-house and online tutoring. Students are able to choose from 1 or 1.5 hour long sessions, in either a singular subject or a range of subjects. An email was sent out this week with more information on this new initiative.

Have a great weekend everyone, we look forward to seeing you back on Monday for the start of Week 6! Ma tē wā
