Tolcarne News

Kia ora Tolcarne whānau. It was another busy week at the hostel, with lots of winter sports, cultural practices, Pink Ribbon fundraising and of course the Nail Bar evening in preparation for the Senior Formal!

We don’t do things in halves around here… and this year's Pink Ribbon Fundraiser was no different! From baking, to decorating treats and selling raffle tickets, our ākonga were fully involved in making the event a success

We kicked off the week preparing for our Pink Ribbon bake sale. With the help of my trusty chefs, we baked cookies, cupcakes and meringues. After baking, it was time to move onto icing, before packaging up the goodies to be sold at school.

It was all go on Wednesday evening, with the seniors helping to decorate the Dining Room in all things pink. Making it look extra aesthetic of course!

Thursday morning rolled around and the students were welcomed to a set dining room, complete with Charlie's Pink Lemonade, strawberry milk, waffles, pancakes, pink cookies and more

I am so proud of the mahi everyone put in, helping to raise over $2400 so far for the Breast Cancer Foundation. This is such a worthwhile cause and one that effects so many loved ones

A big thank you to our ākonga for getting on board with fundraising and supporting every step to ensure the bake sale and breakfast were a success. I was blown away with the amount of students who were willing to bake, help set up and sell raffle tickets, all with a smile and positive attitude - well done!

A massive shout out to our Tolcarne community who supported, donated and got behind our fundraising - we appreciate it. And finally to the Kitchen Team, each of you helped in one way or another - baking, getting sponsorships, cooking and letting us take over your kitchen! A big team effort
