Weekly News Term 4 Week 3

Dear Parents and Caregivers

With only one week left of formal classes for our senior students, we have been able to enjoy some special events that have celebrated the joys and positives of this unprecedented year and really characterize the very special, holistic environment our girls thrive in.

Yesterday's St Hilda's Day service, while missing the warmth and collective support of our families and wider community, did remind us of the wonderful legacy of a phenomenal woman, St Hilda, and that not all women can take a quality education for granted. The students always rise to the formal occasion and I was so proud of their demeanour, respectful attendance contributions and commitment to our special character.

Last evening we celebrated students' achievements in the arts, sports, academic and service at the Blues evening and it was heartening to see so many girls achieving to such a high level in their various areas of endeavour, but also giving so much back to the school through coaching, leadership, mentoring and support. Again, our special character is evident and tangible.

As I write this, the Prefects are decorating the school for a 'Candyland' fun day. Sure to bring a smile to everyone's faces, the decorations, planned activities, music and food will add vibrancy, fun and laughter to an otherwise standard Friday. The thought and effort they have put into this event, again indicates the importance our school community puts on inclusivity, optimism, wellbeing and going the extra mile for others.

On staffing matters I am delighted to announce that Mrs Monique Grant has been appointed to the HOD Physical Education and Health position, starting formally in Term 1 2021. Mrs Grant is currently teaching in the school as Acting Co-HOD and we are fortunate to have secured someone with her varied experience, expertise and academic background for the role.
