Tolcarne News

Week 3 has been a busy one for the girls. It has been all go, with sports and activities - along with anticipated weekend events... woohoo the senior formal!! It is starting to feel more like winter around Dunedin, so remember your warm layers for school and sport, along with a thermos (if you would like to take hot soup to school for lunch).

On Friday night the girls enjoyed a trip to the rugby, where the Highlanders took out a convincing win! Watching the game is always a highlight for our girls, along with a few pottles of hot chips and the company from other boarding schools! The weekend activity was laser tag on Sunday. I hear there was fierce competition between the group, lots of running around and of course plenty of noise! This weekend there is the option to head to a boxing class, the perfect way to burn off some energy

On Monday evening the juniors had a Night Prayers session with Dr Townsley, focussing on the theme of Origami. Our Tuesday after school activity was a movie afternoon - perfect for the cold weather! Once the girls were rugged up in pjs and Oodies, they voted on a movie to watch. And of course no movie session is complete without a range of movie treats - we did not go hungry!!

Koru for the Year 10 students this week was based around the theme of 'armour', in particular 'armoured hearts'. Robyn started the session with a body scan, where the girls were able to relax and reflect on their day. Our discussion started around what armoured hearts may look like for us and others. The group were very open with sharing their opinions and experiences, leaning into the feeling of being more vulnerable. Each student ended the session by creating their own armoured heart to take away

Wednesday meant it was time to prepare for our Open Day! We had our annual door decorating evening, where each room planned themes for their door - with all types of designs. We had a 'out of space' themed corridor, Disney and even Hawaiian. The hostel was decorated top to bottom in colour, with wee messages for potential students and plenty of lollies! Have a look below for more photos

The Tolcarne Open Day was held on Thursday, where we opened our doors to around 200 people! It was all go, with our Year 13 students taking tours and the kitchen team preparing delicious treats for all to enjoy. We loved seeing lots of new smiling faces, everyone appreciated the effort put into door decorating and their notes from the older students. A massive thank you to our Year 13 cohort, who did a fabulous job of representing Tolcarne and also to the kitchen team

The busy day didn't stop there... On Thursday evening we had our annual 'nail salon', preparing for the senior formal tonight. The nail polish supply was topped up, with Ange, Robyn and Ziggy sitting around the 'nail bar' pampering the line up of bronzed looking students (all natural of course ). No pamper evening would be complete without amazing platters from the kitchen and the smell of Bondi Sands!

After months of selecting a dress, pondering over what heels would match and selecting out accessories, the much anticipated senior formal is on tonight. We are so excited for the girls and can not wait to see them all glammed up! Have the most amazing time, stay classy and fabulous
